SPRING WALK & BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY - APRIL 16
Are you tired of waiting in long morning drop-off lines? Consider walking or biking to school for our Walk to School Wednesday on April 16.
- Many of our students live within a mile from Barnwell, and there are clean and safe sidewalks and bike trails. It takes less time than you think, and getting to school under your own power is surprisingly fun.
Still not convinced? Here's more information to help you decide.
- Google Maps estimates that it takes about 22 minutes to walk a mile and 6 minutes to bike the same distance. The distance to Barnwell from the corner of Jones Bridge and Old Alabama is less than a mile!
- Getting exercise in the morning is good for both adults and kids. It helps set the tone for the day. Plus, there's some quiet time to enjoy on the walk home from school.
- On the morning of the event, parent volunteers will be handing out small treats. Your Bear can get a sticker telling all their friends that they got to school with their "Bear Feet."
PRINCIPAL'S COFFEE CHAT - APRIL 16
After you walk your kid(s) to school, join Ms. Benning for the spring Principal’s Coffee Chat on Wednesday, April 16th at 8:00 AM in the Barnwell Media Center! This time, we’re bringing in a special treat—both of our Middle School Assistant Principals will be “spilling the tea” on how to navigate middle school life. Whether you have a rising middle schooler or want to learn more about Spring testing, this is a great opportunity to get insight, ask questions, and prepare for the next big step. Coffee will be served!
